MONTCALM AREA VOLUNTEER AND MENTORING
CONSORTIUM
The Montcalm Area Volunteer and Mentoring Consortium is a
group whose members are volunteer and mentoring program managers around
Montcalm County. The group began meeting in 1998 when Eight Cap Inc. saw
an opportunity to increase volunteerism and mentoring in Montcalm County
through grant funds supported by the Montcalm Human Services Planning
Committee.
Out of the initial meetings, the group came to agreement
about some basic principles. Also out of the early discussion, members
agreed on the need for a volunteer center to help recruit volunteers for
all programs, and developed the beginning framework for what is now
“Montcalm County Volunteer Connections”, operating as a program of the
United Way of Montcalm.
The Consortium meets monthly, providing ongoing training
for volunteers and volunteer managers, shared recognition for volunteers
across all programs, and support for those in volunteer manager’s roles.
Membership is open to all who manage volunteer programs.
